I recently completed an assignment for the “Working in Fashion Media” portion of the Parsons x Teen Vogue Essentials of Fashion Industry certificate program.
I always KNEW there was an easier way to manage your social profiles at the same time! Thanks to Parsons x Teen Vogue, I discovered the secret sauce. I wish I had thought of this platform myself…
Hootsuite connects up to 3 social profiles under one roof for free. If you want to add more, you must pay for a membership. Interested? Check out Hootsuite here.
I connected my WordPress blog, my Facebook profile and my Instagram profile to view specific streams all at the same time. After learning the ropes, I posted a picture with hashtags to both my Facebook and Instagram accounts so that I could have a clear snapshot of my digital audience…
On Hootsuite, there are not any reports available to assess Facebook profiles (however, you can analyze stats for Facebook PAGES) or Instagram profiles, so I dove in the old-fashioned way with paper and pencil to track the following:
Facebook likes from men: 0/4 0%
Facebook likes from women: 4/4 100%
Facebook comments from men: 0/2 0%
Facebook comments from men time of day: NA
Facebook comments from women: 2/2 100%
Facebook comments from women time of day: 6:40 PM same day as post; 7:49 PM same day as post
Instagram likes from men: 3/14 21%
Instagram likes from women: 11/14 79%
Instagram comments from men: 0/3 0%
Instagram comments from men time of day: NA
Instagram comments from women: 3/3 100%
Instagram comments from women time of day: 6:58 PM same day as post; 9:15 PM same day as post; 9:44 AM day after post
This exercise provided me with the data to gain insight into my digital audience. I imagine that if I were using a Facebook page as opposed to a profile, it would be more beneficial. I understand how this would be useful for someone who is representing a product or service and will keep this little gem in my back pocket for future use…If I need it 😉
